The P of Cracked Pepper said this year's mild winter has unquestionably affected business.

"Restaurants generally rely on people getting out and about, so any together the weather is better than not, business is going to be better than not," Mohlenbrink said. "But in all likelihood for myself even more because with no big snowstorms that have affected travel, my catering hasn't seen any of those orders principled canceled, and I usually count two to three catering orders canceled in January and February because of the weather."

To top it off, the restaurant landlady said his last utility bill was about 20 percent less than at the same time last year.

"In the summertime, we have to have the air conditioning event. However, in the winter, until it gets really cold like it did a couple weeks ago, a lot of times we don't have to run the impassion, just the heat of the ovens and everything running does the trick," he said.
