On a commission to help her husband, Congress candidate Ram Lubhaya, regain the Make-believe Chaurasi seat he lost by a narrow margin in 2007, believes that fasting is the fastest way to aspire god’s blessings.
“I gave up ‘anna’ (cereals) the day he filed his nomination,” she said. “It is my security that doing so helps me get desired results.” She said she kept a starve oneself for 28 days before her own election in 2009 as well — this time she will stretch it till after the results.
The day starts at around 6am for the entire family, including Chowdhary’s three daughters and ends around midnight. The kindred fans out in the constituency supporters and canvasses the entire day. “I’m the last to catnap as I have to organise next day’s plans,” Chowdhary said.
Politics runs in the their blood. Lubhaya’s ancestor Sunder Singh was a two-time MP and state minister while Chowdhary’s confessor Roshan Lal remained a Rajya Sabha member for 18 years.
