Since August 2008, 135 Stella D'Oro workers (mostly women) were stretched out on the race because of BRYNWOOD partners, bosses followers, almost trying to greatly reduce their pay, subsistence and benefits. The decrease in profits is wonderful to drive these businesses to blossom further with more workers and trying to break an escape from their association. Mutuality of these workers is growing. Workers in the Bronx have been on collide with now for virtually four months. When Brynwood Partners took over the  Stella D’Oro cookie plant  last year it didn’t take prolonged for them to set wage cuts (one dollar an hour over a five year patch), a reduction in vacation days, and a formula to be short of that workers pay for their own haleness indemnification. The workers fought back and have been on job action since August. GRITtv speaks to Joyce Alston, President of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Trace Millers Organization Nearby 50, Michael Filipou a Store Steward at the plant, and Ed Marrero a fellow of BCTGM, Native 50.

Alston says that undeterred by the troubling profitable image, now is the spell for workers to put up with. Marrero, who has worked for the concern for 29 years, has had to take out loans to pay for his son’s tutoring and is having unpleasantness making principal payments. But he says the only other alternative was to take a five dollar pay cut over five years, which wasn’t’ okay. The workers have received a tremendous amount of fortifying from other unions, workers, New Zealand urban area councilmen, testify senators and Bronx borough elected officials.
